Week of Feb. 17th
Hi skiers, reporting from Utah after the last JNQ race of the year. We had excellent weather, and great conditions, it was an NCAA invitational, so we got to watch some really good racing between the JNQ racers and the collegiate racers. 4 LWSC skiers were named to the JNQ squad this year-Derek “Buster” Richardson, Stella Johnson and first time qualifiers Haley Loewen and Liam Newman-congrats to both of you. Also qualifying from our wax tent (E-berg and PVNT) are Isak Larsen and Owen Steinhauer! Young Adeline Loewen podiumed with a 1st and 2nd in U12s! Gabe Velasquez skied 2 great races and come up 1 point shy of qualifying in the Uber competitive MU18-20 combined group. Also representing LWSC were Rory Swoboda, Isabel Menna, Kirsten Jarmin. It is a hard and challenging course and being in the mix is no small feat!. It also takes all the skiers on the team working together...any success is a team success.
Much thanks to Pierre and Jeff form PVNT/E-berg for their help with our kick wax! It truly takes a village. Thanks to parents for bringing kids down, and everyone along the way that puts the time in with this team.
I know our weather is warming, but we have 1 more WNC race at Cabin creek on Leap Day 2/29! It would be fun to have a good contigency, it is a sprint format! https://www.wncup.org/schedule-and-registration/2018/3/3/champs-cabin-creek
